Cut plastic into the following rectangles:
-
7" x 2.25" (1x)
-
7" x 0.5" (3x)
-
7" x 1" (2x)
-
7" x 1.75" (1x)
-
Align the plastic in the order shown, leaving a small gap (about 1/8") between each plastic segment, and tape together.
-
The small gap between the plastic segments allow the parts to bend after taping together.
-
-
-
Stack the 2x fabric rectangles and stack them on top of each other.
-
-
-
Place the plastic template on the fabric squares and fold as shown.
-
Remove the plastic template and tack fabric as shown.
-
-
-
Sew the pleats on both sides.
-
Using tape, place a metal piece in the middle of the mask, 1/4" from the top edge.
-
Fold the fabric pieces over the metal piece/elastic ends.
-
Sew across the hem and vertically along the edges to secure the elastic.
-
-
-
Loop elastic band ends over to opposite side of mask (1/4" from bottom edge).
-
Repeat sewing steps laid out in step 3: fold fabric and sew lengthwise and along the edges to enclose the elastic.
-
