Introduction

This guide will demonstrate the proper way to disassemble a barbell.

  1. Snap Ring Pliers Safety Glasses (not shown)
    • Snap Ring Pliers

  2. While placing a hand over the sleeve end, carefully pinch and remove the outer snap ring. CAUTION: Snap rings can quickly spring out of the pliers if not handled properly, and can cause injury. Do not install without wearing safety glasses. Do not pinch the snap rings without placing a hand over them.     • While placing a hand over the sleeve end, carefully pinch and remove the outer snap ring.

  3. Using the same precautions in the previous step, carefully remove the inner snap ring with the snap ring pliers.   4. Push the bar sleeve back towards the center of the shaft until it stops (a little less than an inch of movement). Remove the following items (in order): Full Washer (1x)

    • Shim Washer (0x-2x)

    • Split Washer (2x)

    • Full Washer (1x)

  5. Carefully slide the sleeve off the bar shaft. With a clean rag or paper towel, wipe off the excess oil from the bar shaft and the two bushings located inside of the bar sleeve. Wipe the excess oil off all hardware components.
    • Carefully slide the sleeve off the bar shaft.
