How to Construct a DIY Rack with ROGUE V2 Gun Racks

Purchase all materials from local hardware store and/or lumber yard.

Note: you many find better deals on hardware from McMASTER-CARR website.

Gather all necessary tools and clear a work space.

Overview:

Build sides

Attach Headers loosely to wall

Slide sides into place

Attach upper shelf/gusset

Attach chin bar

Attach Gun racks

Tighten all hardware

Cut wood to the lengths shown on the left. Be sure to measure twice, particularly with the 4x4s as there is just enough materiel when use 5 8ft pieces.

When cutting the 9 plywood gussets be sure to measure and layout your parts as shown on the single 4x8 sheet. Otherwise you may run out of material.

Any holes shown on the schematic are only represented as a general guideline where to drill and place hardware. Use the holes as a visual guide but you will have to base the exact measurements to your purchased materials and building frame work as these factors will vary.

Layout the side frame pieces on the floor, checking loosely the fitment prior to gluing and screwing . A framing Square will help align the parts to ensure 90 degree corners the the frame is square. The Plywood will also help square the frame.

Once ensured the dry fitment is square, add construction adhesive to all butting surfaces and screw on the plywood sides and front 2x4.

Flip and repeat for the other side. 'Note you can use the first frame as a gig to help assemble the second, this may be easier to only glue and screw one side, then use the frame as a gig, finally screw the rest of the plywood panels on after both frames have been half built.

Drill holes for the chin bar

Use the Black Pipe Flange as a template to mark you holes. The Diameter shows are only there for placement, the flange you purchase may be slightly different to where the hole pattern will need to be double checked.

Center the flange off the top center, or lower to your desired height, then mark hole locations.

Drill from the outside of the rack inward, this is because the standard 4ft threaded pipe will have the flanges located on the outside of the rack to help maximize the overall rack width.

Try to keep the drill as level as possible

Drill and attach Gun Rack to the Front posts

Use the 3x3 Angle Bracket as a base plate on top of the 2x4.

Find and mark all Stud locations on the wall.

Loosely assemble Rack Sides, Chin Bar, and Headers either together or as separate components.

Be sure all parts are square and level before marking and drilling final 3/8 holes for hardware.

Attach and tighten each piece of hardware.
