Introduction

The following guide demonstrates the recommended method for cleaning and disinfecting barbells.

  1. Remove any excess chalk with a nylon bristle brush.

  2. Clean the shaft with a solution of mild soap or detergent using a cloth or paper towel. NOTE: Do not allow the cleaning solution to enter the sleeves.

    • Dry the shaft with a clean cloth.

  3. Wet the shaft with a cleaner or wipe containing an EPA approved disinfectant. NOTE: Make sure the solution does not contain alcohol, phenol, bleach, and ammonia.

    • NOTE: Make sure the solution does not contain alcohol, phenol, bleach, and ammonia.

    • NOTE: Do not allow the disinfectant to enter the sleeves.

    • Leave the disinfectant in place for the duration specified by the wipe manufacturer.

    • Wipe the shaft down with a clean cloth.
